Knowing how the systems we work with, function and interact with other systems outside our control is critical. By understanding the flow and functionality of everything from gateways, to how a transaction is authorized and approved or denied allows implementation of effective solutions. Without knowing how each of the systems function together it’s possible that a simple change in one area could have an adverse impact in another.
